what is NLP
What is NLP? A question I get asked all the time when I tell people what I do. My simple answer is;
NLP is a tool that helps us to understand how the language and workings of our mind create and run the patterns and behaviours we have in our life.
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Let’s break those 3 words down and you will see a little clearer how powerful this can be for your life.
What is NLP?
Neuro is all about your mind and how it sees the world through the senses and then translates sensory information into thought processes, both conscious and unconscious. This activates our neurological system, which affects physiology, emotions and behaviour. Have you ever had someone come up to you and say “what’s wrong with you today”? Your thoughts have translated into body language and actions without you even knowing and people have started picking up on it!
Linguistic means language. In NLP, linguistics is how the words you speak influence your experience. The language you use to express your interpretation of the world to yourself and others.
Programming. Your actions and behaviours. Your personal programming (thinking patterns) that you use to make decisions, solve problems, learn, evaluate, and get results.
Having an understanding of NLP allows a better understanding of how and why you do the things you do – and enables you to improve your good traits and replace your not-so-good ones.
What is NLP?
The practice of NLP is an attitude and a methodology, a set of techniques, which leads to positive change. It provides you with a set of tools you can learn to improve your life in many ways.
